A Call to Prayer
January 1, 2026
New Year, new resolutions. What are you trying to change or improve this year? Can I suggest daily praying for Muslims to come to Christ? You could choose to do so for the 30 days of Ramadan, or you could do it for one whole year. It could be just a simple prayer, “Lord, bring Muslims to know you this year. Amen.” Or it could be a little longer, something like, “Lord, give Muslims dreams and visions that will help them break a lifetime of beliefs and practices. Cause them to understand the gravity of their sin and that they need a Savior to forgive them of their sins. Help them understand that Jesus—and only Jesus— can take away their sin and shame. Amen.”
Staying Committed to Prayer
However you decide, try to keep at it and see it through. I list some suggested tools in the following paragraphs that can assist you. If you miss a day or two, don’t quit or beat yourself up, just start again and try to make it part of your daily routine. Maybe start with a short prayer as you begin, and then once it becomes part of your daily routine, you could add a little more. You could also consider gathering others to help you pray for the Muslim world. Perhaps you could take the initiative and be the person who prays for Muslims at your weekly life group or Sunday School class?
The reason I suggested praying during Ramadan is that it starts the evening of February 18 and ends the evening of March 20. Note that these dates are subject to change a day or two, depending on the appearance of the moon. Muslims fast and pray during the month of Ramadan to earn God’s favor. Our prayer for them is not to gain favor with God, but for their hearts to soften toward the true Healer, Creator, Redeemer, and friend.
Prayer Resources
Since 1993, when prayer guides were first printed and circulated for use during Ramadan, there has been a concerted effort from many Christian Mission organizations to encourage Christians to pray for Muslims during this special month. And it is no coincidence that more Muslims have come to Christ in the last 30 years than in the previous 14 centuries.
Prayer guidebooks for Christians to use during the month of Ramadan can be found at Printed Prayer
guides for $4.00 each (Note: bulk orders are discounted) or Downloadable PDF prayer guides for $2.00. These prayer guidebooks focus on a different Muslim people group or city each day, and provide several prayer points to follow. If you feel led to participate, then order your copy soon so that it arrives in time for you to use during Ramadan, which is fast approaching.
Another key resource is offered by Prayercast, which has produced a plethora of high-quality videos of Muslim people groups, major cities, countries, regions, cultures, and key leaders. Prayercast also has videos of personal testimonies of former Muslims who have come to Christ! These are amazing testimonies of people brought from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light! Each Prayercast video ends with related prayer points. Most of these videos are 4-6 minutes long and could be used as a missions feature in your church’s worship service.
