SEA Team Hope | Community Health Worker in Muslim Areas

Opportunity Overview:

Join our team and make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable communities in Southeast Asia! As a Community Health Worker, you will play a vital role in improving the health and well-being of families and individuals. Health care is fluid, whole family, integrated and needs to be culturally appropriate. Language is very helpful in communicating in the local dialect.

Countries:  Southeast Asia

Terms:  Long-Term (3+ years), Mid-Term (1 - 3 years), Short-Term (12 weeks - 1 year); If you’re joining for a short-term opportunity, you can participate in medical clinics without needing local language skills. Our Medical Missions typically take place in February or September/October.

 

 


Responsibilities:

  • Help coordinate medical outreaches with local health professionals.
  • Conduct dorm visits to connect with students.
  • Prepare and inventory pharmacy and medical supply needs.
  • Develop health training materials for home visits and training classes.
  • Connect with the sick and vulnerable in communities alongside a staff member.
  • Teach health classes to men, women, and children in the community, focusing on whole families (some local language proficiency is needed to be effective).
  • Collaborate with the current medical team, which includes one doctor, three nurses, one nutritionist, and one public health professional.
  • Opportunities available for doctors, dentists, optometrists, and nurses.
  • Connect with and visit student families.

    • Qualifications:

  • Must be a follower of Jesus.
  • Can be licensed medical professionals, medical students, or individuals with community health training.
