Vietnam | Education and Teaching Ministry

Alaska | Village Missionary Pilot

Opportunity Overview:

SEND North is looking for missionaries called to live and serve in remote Alaska villages through evangelism, discipleship, and long-term relationship-building.

This is a ministry-first role focused on helping individuals and communities move toward Christ by investing in people, mentoring youth, and strengthening or establishing local expressions of the church.

Aviation skills are used as a strategic support tool to expand ministry access and serve regional needs—but this role is primarily about village life and disciple-making.

Countries:  Alaska / Northern Canada

Terms:  Long-Term (3+ years), Mid-Term (1 - 3 years)

Responsibilities:

Primary Calling: Village Ministry
You will live full-time in a hub village in bush Alaska, engaging deeply in the life of the community and participating in gospel-centered ministry such as:
• Building meaningful, long-term relationships in the community
• Sharing the gospel through everyday life and intentional conversations
• Discipling new and growing believers
• Mentoring youth and investing in the next generation
• Leading or facilitating Bible studies and small gatherings
• Participating in or helping establish healthy, reproducing groups of believers
• Encouraging families and walking alongside people through the realities of village life
• Serving alongside other missionaries and local believers to strengthen ministry in the region
This role requires patience, consistency, and a commitment to long-term presence in a relational ministry context.

Secondary Role: Aviation & Regional Support
In addition to village ministry, you will use aviation to support the broader mission by:
• Providing flights for missionaries, ministry teams, and outreach efforts
• Assisting with transportation needs that help extend gospel access to remote communities
• Serving regional partners through logistical and relational support
• Operating SEND aircraft in accordance with established procedures and regulations.
Aviation is a valuable tool that supports ministry—it is not the primary focus of the role.

What This Role Is
• A long-term, incarnational village ministry
• A disciple-making role focused on people, not programs
• A relational investment in youth, families, and emerging leaders
• A contribution to establishing local, reproducing communities of faith

What This Role Is Not
• Primarily a flight-based or aviation-driven role
• A logistics or transportation-only position
• A short-term or rotational assignment

Qualifications:

Spiritual & Ministry Qualifications
• A deep desire to share the gospel and help others grow in Christ
• Experience in discipleship, teaching, or relational ministry
• Heart for youth ministry, mentoring, or community engagement
• Ability to build relationships across cultures and in small community contexts
• Commitment to team ministry and serving alongside a variety of partners

Aviation Qualifications
• Commercial pilot certificate with instrument rating (Airplane Single Engine Land)
• Alaska or mountain flying experience preferred but not required
• Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification valuable but not required
