Needed:
Individuals with a heart for people, a love for Muslims, and a passion for public and community health practiced among the poorest and least educated. We are looking for those who will provide medical care, creatively teach basic health education, love families, and be the presence of Jesus.
Country: Asia, Southeast Asia
Term: Long-Term (3+ years), Mid-Term (1 - 3 years), Short-Term (2 weeks - 1 year)
Tasks:

Team Hope seeks to bring an integrative health approach to our work by providing physical, emotional, and spiritual care to address felt needs in some of the most marginalized communities in Southeast Asia. Some of the most common health problems in our communities result from lack of access to the necessities for health due to poverty, a lack of education, and differing cultural beliefs/practices. We seek to identify common health issues, provide basic public health education, facilitate free annual medical clinics, and teach Biblical values. The responsibilities of a Public/Community Health Worker may include: 

  • Assist in coordinating and planning medical clinics/outreaches
  • Conduct medical demographic studies and research projects in service areas
  • Prepare health training materials; creatively and interactively teach public health principles and concepts to individuals and families in rural communities
  • Monitor patients through home visits 
  • Learn the local language
  • Build relationships and being the presence of Jesus
  • Share Bible stories and truth
Specific Qualifications:
  • Heart for Muslims, intentionally loving them and being the presence of Jesus in their lives
  • Ability to creatively teach using skits, videos, games, and other means to provide basic health education
  • Background and experience in public/community health with a passion for working with in poor, rural communities. If you do not have experience in public health, please contact us anyway! We are open to having you join us in a supportive role, teaching and sharing Biblical truth. 
  • This opportunity will take place as a part of/in conjunction with either Campus Outreach or Community Worker

Short-term:
Opportunities are available for individuals, or teams of 3-8 people, for a few weeks to a few months. Contact us for specific dates.
