Pioneering Community Outreach

Needed:
Participate in a pioneering team that is partnering with a small local church to meet felt needs in their local, Tibetan Buddhist community. Come and work as an ESL teacher, athletic coach, or a language student to build relationships with K-people and bridges for sharing the Gospel. Come ready to value your "in the world" role as a means for building the church.  This opportunity includes a significant commitment to language and culture learning as well. 
Country: Eurasia, Russia
Term: Long-Term (3+ years), Mid-Term (1 - 3 years)
Tasks:
Tasks may include but not be limited to:
  • Learn Russian and possibly some K language to the level appropriate for one’s term of service
  • Live in, experience, and adapt to the K/Russian culture
  • Model Christlike character, and dependence on God in everyday life
  • Allow local believers to lead ministry, coming alongside and supporting them
  • Think creatively to build ministry from the ground up
  • Build significant gospel-focused relationships with local people in the community, and help local churches to share the gospel
  • Explore ways to use professional skills to provide viable presence and identity in the community
  • Disciple new believers, as well as young leaders
Specific Qualifications:
  • Initiative taking in relationship building/ “people skills”
  • Deep commitment to working “in the world” with integrity and Christian character
  • Heart for the glory of God to penetrate the unreached
  • Passion to make global followers of Christ who will spread the gospel
  • Experience in reaching out and discipling cross-culturally
  • Readiness to work in a Buddhist context with strong foundation in world religions and an ability to engage with the gospel in that context 
  • Ability to be a team player with global workers and nationals
  • Humility to work behind the scenes and empower and encourage others to lead 
  • Commitment to the power of God's Word to transform lives
