A Chief Financial Officer/Treasurer to contribute to the success of SEND North’s ministry. This position is more than just numbers, journal entries, and tax returns – we are looking for the person that God has for us who is passionate about advancing the Kingdom through sound financial decisions and oversight!

Tasks:

The CFO/Treasurer position is vital to the success of SEND North’s ministry in the 60/70 Window. Along with the financial responsibilities that come with this position is an opportunity to minister to the missionaries by discipling them on financial matters. Additionally, this position requires someone who is truly Kingdom focused and makes decisions based on that focus, and someone who is willing to take a step of faith when necessary while remaining a good steward of the resources God has blessed SEND North with. This position is more than just numbers, journal entries, and tax returns. We are looking for the person that God has for us who is passionate about advancing the Kingdom through sound financial decisions and oversight.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee accounting procedures, including:
    • Journal entry approval
    • Accounting and reporting of donations, receivables, income, and expenses
    • Issuance of donor tax letters
  • Annual audit
    • Preparation for oversight of independent audit process
  • Tax returns
    • Liaison with accounting firm for annual tax return - US and Canada
  • Budget
    • Compile and present the annual budget
    • Monitor fiscal year expenditures
    • Seek approval for major non-budgeted items
  • Reporting
    • Written report with financial statements to bi-monthly SEND North Council meeting and the SEND North Annual Meeting

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the sale and purchase of capital assets as approved
  • Chair the Project Committee
    • Receive project requests and present them to the committee
  • Missionary Finances
    • Create projected Financial Requirement Chart (FRC) for new appointees
    • Supervise annual FRC revision process
    • Monitor missionary's support level and communicate accordingly as necessary
    • Enforce financial policies
  • Assist Area Director in disposition of unrestricted gifts
  • Business Management
    • Manage SEND North's physical assets to include legal issues

Specific Qualifications:

Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of accounting – non-profit a plus
  • Thorough understanding of  financial reporting requirements – non-profit a plus
  • Ability to coordinate an independent fiscal audit
  • Experienced in managing the budget process
