“Let us be sure of this: we will not long preserve the gospel without the [biblical] languages. The languages are the sheath in which this sword of the Spirit is contained.” – Martin Luther

Kyiv Theological Seminary wants to see the value of Scripture heralded from seminaries and Bible schools to the churches, resulting in a brightening of the light of the gospel in Ukraine and Central Asia. Therefore, KTS aims to establish a Consortium of schools to train evangelical pastor-theologians in the biblical languages at both the master’s and the doctoral levels.

The Lord has already helped us take great strides toward offering these advanced studies:

  • KTS will provide office, classroom, and dormitory space for the Consortium.
  • Partnerships are emerging with organizations that have developed cutting-edge online tools for Greek and Hebrew training.
  • A sponsor has offered $75,000 toward translation of these courses into Russian and Ukrainian to augment advanced master’s-level training.
  • Four other schools in the region are in partnership discussions with KTS to establish a Consortium doctorate.

Funds given to this Consortium project will allow us to:

  • Translate 10 language courses into Russian for use online. $6,500 per year for five years.
  • Hire an administrative assistant to work with the Consortium Dean. $6,000 per year for five years.
  • Purchase textbooks for the Master of Divinity (MDiv) courses and Ph.D. seminars. $1,200 per year for five years.
  • Provide scholarships for promising students enrolled in the MDiv program in preparation for the Master in Theology and doctoral programs. Ten $500 scholarships a year for five years.
  • Hire national faculty with advanced degrees for 25 percent of the MDiv courses. $800 per year for five years.
