Our world is on the move! At present, about 3% of the world’s peoples live outside of their countries of birth (about 244 million people – which if put together would qualify as the fifth largest nation on earth). While we are shocked at the reports of massive migration into Europe, this is not a unique phenomenon. Throughout history people have been moving in response to wars, famine, slavery, political changes, and obedience or disobedience to God.
Paul pulls back the curtain on God’s involvement in all of this during his speech to the Athenians on Mars Hill. “And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us.” (Acts 17:26-27)
God is bringing people from all around the world to our North American cities “that they should seek God…and find him”. Many churches are struggling to find effective ways to cross language, religious and cultural boundaries in order to minister to these people. In response SEND International is launching a new initiative to apply our best cross cultural experience among the unreached overseas to discipleship and church planting among these new immigrants.
T & L E have agreed to lead this new ministry. God has given them a passion to see immigrants reached with the gospel and the leadership skills needed to help launch this new initiative. But they can't do it on their own. They need your help!
