Proclamation: Humble and Intentional

Tags: Canada

Recently I had a chance to spend some time reading with my son, Jon. (The books we read together have changed a bit... he's a college freshman now!) As I shared in the reading of one of his textbooks, I came across this statement which encourages us to be both humble and intentional in our proclamation of the Good News:

"The radical conversion of the heart, the U-turn of the mind which the New Testament calls metanoia, can never be the calculable result of correct methods of communication. It is something mysterious for which we can only say that our methods of communication were, at most, among the occasions for the miracle."

(Newbigin, Foolishness to the Greeks, p. 6)

"No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him." John 6:44
