SEND North’s social media connects people with God’s work in the Far North.  We do this through one part-time staff and many amazing interns.

Why use social media? Community! While online activity should never replace face to face interaction, social media feeds our desires to connect in new ways.  Consider these facts:

  • Fact: The next generation of missionaries and their supporters live online.
  • Fact: People have an incredible fascination with Alaska.
  • Fact: There is a desperate need for the Gospel in the 60/70 Window of Alaska and Northern Canada.

Put all these facts together, and you understand why this ministry is so vital. By engaging people’s fascination with Alaska, we meet them where they are at, open their eyes to the need, and invite them to participate in transforming lives!

This effort also aids the missionaries in remote villages. It allows them to focus on their work instead of trying to keep up with the technology to best communicate with those “outside.”  Excellent communication on social media can be used by our team to increase their prayer support as well as raise more needed workers and resources.

SEND North is contracting with Daryl Carlson to continue to develop and maintain their social media presence along with handling other communication needs. Daryl is the former Alaskan Missionary who started this ministry.

This project is also used to gather funds for interns as they work to raise the cost of their travel and living expenses. SEND North has found great benefit in using Social Media Intern’s to tell our story. An intern's work can cover writing stories for print, or doing video and photography projects.
