Church Planters/ Equippers

Need four units for both new church planting and establishing small existing churches

General job description: To proclaim Christ among unreached pockets of the population; to work with both expatriate and national coworkers to establish a new Hakka or Taiwanese church as part of a team ministry, or under a national pastor in equipping leadership for specific ministries of community outreach and discipleship within an existing church yet under development.

Qualities needed: Servant heart; demonstrated gifts and skills in evangelism and/or discipleship of new believers; ability to work well with or under national leadership; perseverance to endure in a long haul ministry; ability to take initiative; background in social work and specialized skills in music, children's or youth ministry methods, English teaching, mime, and other creative team outreach methods are particular assets.

On-field training: Two years of full-time language study, followed by two years of part-time language study and part-time supervised ministry internship; continuing skill development through semi-annual Church Planters Workshops, and occasional Asia Regional Equipping Seminars.

Theological Educator/ Leadership Development Specialist

Need two units for formal institutional, and/or informal theological training of national church leadership in partner training institutions

Qualities needed: Mandarin Chinese language proficiency commensurate to the teaching task; demonstrated skills in leadership development; ability to practically demonstrate and lead church planting/establishing work with students; flexibility to work under national leadership.

Overseas Contract Workers - Evangelist/ Networker

Need two Thai-speaking units and one Indonesian-speaking unit to assist local Chinese churches in direct evangelistic outreach to and discipleship of overseas contract workers, and in developing local fellowships of OCWs in concert with Chinese churches mobilized to share this vision.

Qualities needed: Thai or Indonesian language proficiency; demonstrated skills in personal evangelism and individual and small group discipleship; ability to take initiative; appropriate networking skills; flexibility to work with and/or under national leadership.

On-field training: Mandarin language study as needed; orientation to Taiwan OCW ministries and leadership.

TESOL Teacher/ Outreach Team Worker (Short Term)

Need two units for one or two year periods

General job description: To assist in establishing a new church or to help an existing church reach into its community through church-based English class instruction, friendship evangelism and extracurricular outreach activities. Normally, English teaching would not exceed four to eight hours per week.

Qualities needed: Servant heart; friendly, outgoing disposition; flexibility; previous teaching experience is helpful.

On-field training: Orientation to Taiwan culture and Taiwan churches; Mandarin language study as needed or desired; Seminar in linguistic approaches specifically to assist Chinese speakers learning English.

Business Manager

General job description: To be responsible for the area office management and bookkeeping functions. Other opportunities for ministry are available depending on personal gifts and skills.

Qualities needed: Servant heart; accounting and basic computer skills; good "people skills" and good organizational skills.

On-field training: Mandarin language study as needed; orientation to SEND Taiwan bookkeeping and accounting systems, and training in office procedures.

Mission Center Maintenance Supervisor/ Host & Hostess

One unit needed by August 2002 (This position is particularly well-suited to a "finisher" couple.)

General job description: To maintain the SEND Taiwan mission center and to serve as host/hostess for missionaries and guests using the center. Other opportunities for ministry are available depending on personal gifts and abilities.

Qualities needed: The gift of gracious hospitality; flexibility; physical strength and ability to do home and yard maintenance.

On-field training: Mandarin language study (basic "survival" study is recommended.)

International School MK Educator

Need two units

General job description: To teach at Morrison Christian Academy in grade levels K-12. A current personnel need listing is available on request.

Features:

• Academic and spiritual ministry to children of missionary and expatriate business families.
• Lower support requirement since a portion of needed financial support will be provided from Morrison Academy.
• Provides funding for financial tuition assistance for SEND MKs studying at Morrison, lowering financial support requirements for those families.

On-field training: Career teachers at Morrison Academy serving with SEND are encouraged to study Mandarin Chinese either before beginning to teach, or during a future break in their teaching schedule.
