SEND Taiwan Team

No wonder we’re called SEND International! Not only do SEND missionaries serve around the world—they also come from all over the globe. SEND missionaries include Japanese serving in the Philippines; Filipinos serving in Poland, Spain and Taiwan; East Indians serving in Taiwan; Taiwanese serving in Ukraine; and the list goes on. The SEND Taiwan team reflects SEND’s diversity, with members of seven nationalities and at least nine distinct ethnic backgrounds. Missionary Victor Lao says, "Joining the SEND Taiwan team is like joining a small version of the United Nations or being a part of a global village. We learn so much from each other and grow together in the Lord." Here’s your chance to meet the members of this international team!

Scott & Leslie Powell (Scott, Leslie, Trevor, Aimee, Daniel, Allison)

We are from New Jersey, U.S.A. We have been in Taiwan since 1985, working in church development, evangelism, discipleship training, teaching, and preaching among the Hakka-speaking Chinese in northern Taiwan.

We are currently transitioning from church development and teaching into mission team oversight and administration as our primary assignment. We will be locating in Taichung. Our short-range goals: to build on SEND Taiwan’s excellent foundation, developing our vision for reaching lost people in Taiwan, developing a strategic network of partnerships with leading national church groups, recruiting qualified and gifted team workers to join in reaching Taiwanese and Hakka with the Good News, and developing the missionary team through mentoring relationships and effective teaming.

Only God’s love is sufficient to sustain us in continuing to touch lives, especially when people may not always want what we have to share. God is always faithful to His promises, and He never fails.

Why should someone consider joining our SEND Taiwan team? Because in their walk with God they have come to the place where they can no longer keep God’s gift of Life to themselves, and they are prepared to accept the challenge of joining a team committed to taking the Good News of new life in Jesus Christ to people who desperately need to know Him—people who have very little opportunity to hear of Christ’s transforming love unless we leave our comfort zones and tell them! And because SEND Taiwan is one of the most diverse, supportive and caring teams with which they could ever serve.
