Overview of SEND's Ministry in Spain:

Spain is a rising member of the European economic community. Life is fast paced and secular. History and culture of many centuries make Spain highly resistant to the gospel. Spain has left religion behind with the oppression of the past. SEND missionaries work closely with Spanish churches and believers to start new churches in urban Madrid communities. Sports, market book tables, films, family events, and discussion Bible studies are just a few ways missionaries meet and encourage Spaniards to consider Christ. SEND's ministry includes evangelism and church planting and leadership development.

Places we work: Guadalajara, Madrid Sur, San Fernando de Henares, Vicalvaro, The Evangelical Christian Academy, and SEFOVAN.

Church Planting

SEND has been in Spain for 19 years now. In cooperation with the Spanish evangelical church we have assisted in the planting of three churches: Alcorcon, San Fernando, and Vicalvaro. We continue to build up the churches in San Fernando and Vicalvaro. At the same time we are now moving into two new strategic locations: Madrid Sur, a burgeoning sector of the city of 150,000 and Guadalajara, a provincial capital of 80,000.

Radio Ministry

We are also initiating a radio ministry. At this stage it consists of the purchase of time on two stations where we are broadcasting an evangelistic spot by Luis Palau and a Focus on the Family spot. We are prayerfully considering other radio options for the future that will require personnel with technical training in operating, producing and editing programs.

Evangelism and Bible teachers

Over the years we have also participated in a church based missionary training program called the Programa Pionera and in SEFOVAN, a local seminary that focuses on training students in church planting and evangelism. A student from SEFOVAN has just joined our team in Guadalajara and will be working with us on weekends. We need Bible teachers with a focus on practical ministry and church planting who could work with us to support church planting teams and train young people for the ministry.

Special Skills

We also need a multitude of special skills and gifts to build ministry teams that effectively touch different segments of the population. Evangelism, social ministries to battered women, alcoholics, drug addicts or the jobless or English teaching and sports ministries are all vital components of a strategic ministry.

Elementary & Secondary Education

MK education is also a strategic ministry to support missionary families around the greater Madrid area. Right now SEND has seven students in Evangelical Christian Academy and we are actively searching for elementary and secondary teachers.
