Brenda's Story
“Ever since I became a Christian, I had the burden to reach out to the Chinese with the gospel. It has been said that Taiwan has more temples per person than any other place in the world. I noticed that even for a small village, there are temples at both ends of the village and a few in between. I went into a few and observed what their customs and rituals were. I watched them and cried inside. I often prayed for the people’s precious souls as I walked around the temples.
“I am saddened to find that the number of Christians in Taiwan does not exceed 3% while neighboring countries (e.g. Korea and China) and even Muslim countries (Indonesia, Afghanistan and Iraq) have been experiencing rapid growth.
“The Apostle Paul understood the importance of patience and identifying with those he wanted to reach (I Corinthians 9:19-23). I am prepared to learn Taiwanese, and do what the Taiwanese do: visiting friends at their convenient time, spending time with them, getting to know them and their needs, gaining their trust and the right to speak about our God and His desire to know them.”
