Geography
First of all, Slovenia is NOT Slovakia. The two countries are separated by Austria and Hungary and a distance of about 190 miles.
Now that we’ve got that settled, let’s get back to Slovenia. This outdoorsman’s paradise has rivers, mountains, forests, lakes, hills, seaside and caves, and it is all crammed into a country slightly smaller than Massachusetts. Slovenia is a gorgeous slice of Europe with quaint towns, room to roam, and some of the cleanest cities anywhere in Europe. It shares its borders with Italy (west), Austria (north), Hungary (east) and Croatia (south) and is sandwiched between the Julian Alps and the Adriatic Sea. The climate ranges from alpine to Mediterranean. To find this tiny country on the map, first locate Italy and follow the “boot” north and east until you run into it.
