Roma Ministry

SEND Bulgaria is beginning a brand new ministry among Turkish Roma (Gypsy).  This is in partnership with a Korean church planter who has been serving in Bulgaria for over 14 years in Roma ministries.

Some small Roma churches exist but they need help to evangelize their communities, teach in the churches and train Roma leaders.

Evangelize
SEND Bulgaria is focusing on several key opportunities to build relationships and evangelize the Roma communities.  Many people in the area are highly motivated to learn English and ESL classes would be very popular.  The Roma also desire computer training.

Teach
Solid biblical teaching is key to growing Roma churches.  Teaching would take place in a variety of settings, from Bible studies, to youth or children’s ministries, to church services.

Train
Roma believers and church leaders desire to reach their communities but lack training.  Many are gifted musicians but need training in music ministry to make the most of their skills.  Others need help leading youth and children’s ministries.

This is an exciting new ministry with great potential to transform the Roma community in Bulgaria.  But in order for plans to move forward, we need people to get involved.  We need both short-term and long-term missionaries for a variety of ministries:

  • Church planting
  • Youth ministry
  • Children’s ministry
  • Bible studies
  • ESL
  • Music ministry
People who would work well among the Roma will have a love for God and the Roma people, with an open and humble character.  They need to be good communicators who are resilient and don’t give up easily.
