Missions in the North
Alaska: Like the general pace of life in the north, ministry moves slowly. It takes years to establish lasting relationships in the tight-knit communities. Villagers see a lot of people come and go and are somewhat suspicious of strangers. Northern people are not aggressive in building relationships. Sometimes just sitting silently in community is the most effective way to build a friendship. Isolation and difficult climate also hinder spiritual progress. Salvation stories are few and far between. But for those willing to stay for the long-haul, there has been fruit.
