"Making an eternal difference in our world"
Located on a beautiful
tract of land on the Yomitan Peninsula, OCSI provides a major educational
support base for the international community living on Okinawa. OCSI is a
non-denominational mission whose purpose is to proclaim the Gospel and disciple
believers while providing a high-quality Christian education.
Each faculty member has
been prayerfully chosen to work in partnership with our parents to love, nurture,
and teach their child. Every day of teaching at OCSI has the potential of
influencing students, impacting the future, and making a difference. With
75% of the students coming from non-Christian homes, OCSI is a mission field
to children from 15 countries of Asia as well as North America. OCSI is a
mix of MKs and national children. This is true at some other the other schools
too, but OCSI has a high percentage of Japanese to MKs - about 65% Japanese.
OCSI is committed to excellence
in providing an educational program firmly established in Biblical truth.

The
OCSI Curriculum
The elementary school
offers a balanced program of academics, arts, Bible, and physical education.
The kindergarten curriculum is an activity-based readiness program, with lessons
centering on themes. English as a Second Language classes are offered for
grades 1-5. There is a 4-day camp each Fall for upper elementary children.
The middle school program
is designed especially to meet the academic and social needs of students in
grades 6-8. Music, art, and physical education classes, along with elective
course and exploratories, enrich the curriculum. Bible classes challenge students
to think about what they believe.
The high school curriculum
provides preparation for college entrance, as well as elective courses in
many areas. The extra-curricular sports program fields teams in boys' and
girls' sports, playing local and American schools and participating in off-island
tournaments. Musical groups are trained to meet high standards.
