Ever
thought about teaching Missionary Kids?...
The need and rewards are great!
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION - the daily need of missionary families
Several
years ago, a major mission agency did a study on why missionaries go home.
Children's issues, including children's education, was one of the most commonly
stated reasons for families leaving the field prematurely.
The family headed overseas
can be so focused on ministry strategies that before they get there, the
mundane
issue of how their children will be educated can get "lost in the shuffle." When
the family gets off the plane, how to educate their children will be a daily
issue. My privilege is to work practically on their behalf.
As God
calls couples with children overseas, He cares very much about those children,
as well as the
parents'
ministry. SEND International has a long history of providing quality teachers
for MK schools or workers for agencies like SHARE that seek to help parents
make good educational decisions. This commitment is a very important part
of "providing cups of water" in Jesus name, "taking care of the
stuff" for those whom He has plans to "provide a hope and a future."
- Dr.
David Brooks, SHARE, Budapest, Hungary
A CALL FOR TEACHERS...
One or two years of your
service could save a missionary's whole career. A teaching career overseas
could give you unusual opportunities to influence the lives of young people
forever.
If you are an elementary
or secondary teacher, you could be actively involved in God's Great Commission
by teaching missionary children, freeing their parents to be evangelists,
Bible teachers, and church planters. In most schools, you would also be challenged
as you teach English-speaking children from non-Christian business, professional,
and diplomatic families.
SEND International is
always recruiting for schools and teaching situations all over the world.

HOW
AND WHO?
Most teachers at missionary
children's schools go overseas with mission agencies like SEND International
who handle their finances, orientation, and care. Teachers usually raise support
to cover their salary and expenses. In some cases, there is a partial direct
hire supplement from the school, and/or housing provided.
Teachers come in all ages,
walks of life, and gender. SEND recruits new teachers right out of college,
mid-life teachers who want a new challenge, and early retirees who bring their
wealth of experience to the overseas school. Although schools prefer career
teachers, all schools are open to short term teachers. Many schools also accept
student teaching interns.

Specialty
English Teaching
SEND also recruits English
Teachers who do not teach in missionary schools. Teaching English as a Second
Language (TESL) is a primary evangelism tool in many ministry areas. English
classes develop contacts that lead to Bible study and evangelism. An English
teacher often partners with a church planting team and greatly enhances neighborhood
evangelism by offering a much wanted skill - speaking English!
