Japan
Our
Purpose
Christian Academy in Japan
(CAJ) was established in 1950 to provide Christ-centered education, in the
English language, for the children of evangelical missionaries. While continuing
this purpose, CAJ also serves many other families who desire this type of
education for their children CAJ is committed to nurturing students in spiritual
growth and academic excellence.
The school includes grades
K-12 and has been fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and
Colleges since 1976. It is affiliated with the Association of Christian Schools
International (ACSI), Christian Schools International (CSI), and the East
Asia Council of Overseas Schools (EARCOS).
Conveniently located in
northwest Tokyo, the school is governed by a Board of Directors elected by
the six evangelical missions that own and operate the school.

Our
Profile
Christian Academy in Japan
has a student body of more than 400 in grades K-12. About 60% of the students
are children of missionaries from almost 40 different mission organizations.
CAJ students represent more than a dozen nations, with the largest numbers
coming from America, Japan, Korea, and Canada. A small boarding facility is
available for students from missionary families. SEND has many children in
this school.
The heart of CAJ rests
in our administration, faculty and staff, men and women who are highly qualified
and devoted to their profession. Through them, the school aims to nurture
our students towards excellence.

Our
Programs
The school offers an accredited,
college preparatory, Christian education. Programs in English as a Second
Language and a Resource Room for special-needs children are also available.
All students share the use of a modern, well-equipped four-acre campus, which
includes a 400-seat auditorium, a gymnasium and an academic building completed
in August of 1997. A library with more than 30,000 volumes, science labs,
a computer lab, and well-furnished classrooms provide excellent resources
for learning.

in addition to their strong program in core academics, explore their potential
through courses in computer science, art home economics and industrial arts.
Electives are available in Japanese language as well as choral and instrumental
music.
The high school curriculum
offers four years of English, Bible, social studies, mathematics, science,
and physical education. Two or three foreign languages, including Japanese,
are offered every year. Electives are available in Advanced Placement courses,
art, computer science, industrial arts, home economics, and choral and instrumental

Our
Invitation
You are invited to visit
CAJ and to experience firsthand our warm welcome and the excitement we share
as we learn and live the Christian life together. We always enjoy meeting
prospective staff members, prospective students and their families, and other
people who are interested in the school. We would be happy to send you information
by mail or to arrange an interview with the headmaster and a tour of the campus.
Please request specific
information about enrolling students or about staff vacancies from the headmaster,
using the address shown below. Parents who wish to enroll children should
begin that process in March. In keeping with our primary purpose, CAJ gives
first enrollment priority to missionary families and then to other Christian
families. We look forward to seeing you!
