SENDmedia needs to increase production of videos, podcasts, web presence, and print in order to better serve SEND missionaries and inspire people to mission involvement. To do this, SEND needs funding for equipment, software and travel expenses.

Situation:

Powerful images evoke a powerful response. People who otherwise would never think of the spiritual plight of those on the other side of the world can be moved to action through hearing the stories and seeing the faces of the lost.

SENDmedia video shootToday, many tools are available to capture and convey these images. Technology changes rapidly making equipment and software obsolete after only a few years. People expect high definition and instant access; they want to be visually transported to another time, another place. However, the costs of updating equipment and traveling to the corners of the globe carry a high price tag.

Opportunity:

SENDmedia needs funds to purchase the latest tools and pay for travel costs. We have already assembled an experienced and creative team. The right equipment will maximize their efforts. Project funds will enable SENDmedia to expand its web presence, connecting SEND to potential missionaries and supporters; travel to SEND fields to create engaging videos and collect photos; produce high quality print pieces to communicate SEND’s vision and needs; produce educational resources for churches; create engaging podcasts; and provide resources and expertise to SEND’s missionaries.

Accomplishments:

SENDmedia project - I Heart Musims Book/DVDIn the past year, SENDmedia has launched a 1,900 page website and added a blogging engine; produced a DVD on Muslim ministries and created a companion study guide for small groups; produced several print pieces including the Annual Report which received rave reviews from SEND supporters; launched a monthly e-newsletter; designed personal prayer cards for over 25 missionaries; trained six classes of missionaries how to use media tools; helped three SEND fields launch and market their new vision; established a presence on Facebook with almost 3,500 fans; updated the campus wireless to better serve visiting missionaries; created new materials and displays for the Urbana missions conference; launched SENDdocs, a resource hub for SEND missionaries; and posted daily news items and prayer requests on the SEND website. SEND leaders have seen great value in this work and have asked for more. “This work is both excellent and critical. We would like the media department to double their output.”
