Lubin Regional Impact Team (RIT)

Students playing gamesLubin is a town with 90,000 residents which has only two “evangelical” churches and one Baptist church plant. The estimated total of believers is around 180. The Lubin Coffee House is surrounded by 30,000 residents and is being used by God in many different ways to serve the immediate community and beyond.

The Lubin RIT was started in 2005 in partnership with the Glogów Baptist Church and the IMB (International Missions Board). The church plant building is currently being used as a coffee house which enables us to have a language center with 80 students, to hold clubs for children and youth, to meet with different groups and to gather as a congregation for corporate worship. The Lubin fellowship currently has 15-20 people. Our network of contacts covers many areas of the community such as schools (middle and high school), business men and women, workers in key community centers, parents, city hall workers and those working in social services.

The core purpose of the Lubin RIT is to plant a reproducing church in Lubin through God’s strength. At the same time, we work more broadly to assist, strengthen and encourage other church plants like Wolów. We are committed to partnering with like-minded missions, with our Mother church (the Baptist Church in Glogów), and with full-time local Polish church planters who know the language and the culture. In the future, we intend to plant more churches in the region (in the town of Legnica and others as God leads and directs).

We are focused outwardly and not inwardly; therefore, we are involved in the community in any way possible through social means with lectures, training programs, the English language, and using the coffee house as an alternative place for people to meet and relax in a safe environment.

Above all else we are committed to having a passion for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; it is only through Him that we can have a true passion for others and a true passion for ministry. He is our source of guidance, strength and power. With the Spirit’s leading and guidance we share our faith in any way possible to reach people to give their lives to Jesus Christ. We also train and equip those in the church body so that they can share their faith as well. (All the above has been written with the underlying fact that we cannot in our own ingenuity and work make someone come to Christ. It is through the Holy Spirit’s work to touch the hearts of people and see them give their lives to God. We act out of obedience to Matthew 28.16-20 “… Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations …”)

We invest our lives into the people that God has given us through various means of discipleship, such as: Bible studies, various training programs, one-on-one mentoring, group mentoring and through everyday experiences. God has brought us together with different gifts and talents. We are committed as an RIT to finding out what our gifts and talents are so that we can use them together to make us whole and unified. Through God’s design of unity in diversity, we believe and trust that God will make us a stronger, more effective team.
