Kiev Theological Seminary (KTS)
Kiev Theological Seminary (KTS) is a Ukrainian-run seminary that has been providing quality training for the next generation of Ukrainian pastors and missionaries since 1995. Today KTS provides training for one class of full-time, residential students and six additional programs of modular studies involving 260 students in all.
Since 2005 KTS has been involved in a multi-year facilities expansion program. To date, the facility shell has been erected and approximately one-fourth of the facility has been completed for occupancy. KTS leadership plans to finish remaining portions of the project over the next few years as resources are provided and need for space increases. The next phase of the expansion will complete the library, kitchen, and additional dormitory space. Each of these is critically needed now.
For illustration, we mention the library. “Libraries are not made; they grow,” British politician Augustine Birrell once said. In a well-stocked, well-organized theological library, students can dive into research, growing as they explore the nuances of the Biblical languages or culture. KTS has shelf space for only a portion of the 28,000 volumes it has amassed since 1995. Many of these books remain in boxes, inaccessible to students, and new volumes come available each year.
When complete, the expanded facility will also help meet the critical need in Kiev for a Christian conference center. Such a center will provide income and enable the seminary to reduce its dependence on foreign sources for operational funding.
Cost: $1,487,000 to complete phases mentioned above.
