David & Eileen Barkman (Katie, Evie, Lydia, and Joel)
Administration & Church Ministries

As the SEND Japan Area Director, David serves in administration to inspire a shared vision and empower SEND missionaries to START churches, to SERVE churches to start churches and to SUPPORT missionaries and ministries to start churches. As Evangelism Coordinator, David works to enable and encourage the missionaries that are working in the four churches SEND Japan is currently planting and in the nine pastor-led churches where SEND Japan is assisting.

Eileen assists Kawagoe Bible Church and Kawatsuru Chapel with outreach using English conversation classes for kids and English Bible classes for housewives. She also does discipleship follow-up and helps David in some of his administrative responsibilities.Since we came to Japan from rural Kansas in 1985, our four children have experienced Japanese school, home school, one room "satellite" school, and boarding school. Now Katie is a 4th year piano music major at Moody Bible Institute, Evie is a 3rd year music education major at Toccoa Falls College, Lydia is a 1st year music major at Moody Bible Institute, and Joel, a junior, commutes by bicycle to Christian Academy in Japan, in western Tokyo.

What a privilege it is to help people open the Bible for the first time and introduce them to God's love and grace through Jesus Christ! What a thrill it is to help people take another step toward faith in Christ and obedience to Him! We are praying that the Lord will bring about a great harvest in Japan from the seed that has been sown for so many years. Our desire is to make disciples who make disciples, gathering them together in congregations with the same purpose, to the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Won't you come join us?
