Missions in Japan
SEND has been ministering in Japan since World War II, engaging the unreached and establishing reproducing Japanese churches.
Although the traditional religions in Japan are Shinto and Buddhism and numerous religious rites are observed in public and private life, two thirds of the population claims to have no religion. Japan is gripped in materialism, ancestor worship, and group conformity. Most consider Christianity a good, but irrelevant, foreign religion and firmly resist the call to follow Christ. An overwhelming majority think that right and wrong are determined by the circumstances of a situation rather than by universal absolute laws of morality.
