SEND Ministries: SHARE (education of missionary children), and counseling

Budapest, Hungary is a strategic center for many mission agencies hoping to reach Europe and Asia. In fact, almost all major mission organizations operating in Europe and more than 550 missionaries are located in Budapest. Because of its status as an administrative hub of missions, SEND has chosen to locate its support oriented services in Hungary.

The ministry of SEND in Hungary has two major focuses: educational consulting and mental health services. The Budapest Care Center provides psychological counseling to missionaries and national pastors. The vision of the Budapest Care Center is to reduce the number of missionaries that leave the field due to preventable problems, increase the effectiveness of missionaries that are now only marginally effective, and strengthen healthy missionaries that are exhausted and overwhelmed from being on the front line.

SHARE Educational Services is an educational consulting resource for missionary families seeking advice and educational material for their school aged children.  SHARE Education Services was founded by SEND missionary, Dr. David Brooks as an inter-agency service to missionary parents.  It is the mission of this organization to provide information, materials, and human resource support to missionary families in Europe, Russia, and Central Asia in order to meet the educational needs of their children.

SEND short-term missionaries have also provided educational services at the International Christian School of Budapest.  This is an international school that provides the complete twelve years of elementary, middle and high school education for local and ex-patriot children living in the Budapest area.  We are looking forward to having our first SEND career missionary family join this work in the near future.
