Theological Education

Qualified people are needed to teach theology, develop curriculum, and train Taiwanese leaders. Teach in formal Bible college classrooms and informal training settings. Serve on a missionary team and partner with national churches to reach out to working class Taiwanese.

The most qualified candidate has a doctorate or advanced degree in theology, missiology, counseling, or biblical studies; demonstrated skills in leadership development; ability to practically demonstrate and lead church planting/establishing work with students; flexibility to work under national leadership. For men, it is recommended that they be ordained by their local/home church.

Mandarin language study may be needed to achieve language proficiency commensurate to the teaching task.

Two missionary units are needed to fill this need.

English Teacher with Community Outreach Empahsis

Work with a team to establish a new church by reaching out to the community with English instruction, friendship evangelism, and extracurricular outreach activities.

TESOL certification is not required, but previous teaching experience will be helpful. If you enjoy sharing your faith with all types of people, are friendly and outgoing with a servant heart, you will enjoy this ministry. Flexibility and willingness to work with a team are a must.

On-field training will include orientation to Taiwan culture and churches, Mandarin language study as needed or desired, and seminars in linguistic approaches specifically to assist Chinese speakers learning English.

Bible Study Leader

Men and women to lead small, informal, evangelistic Bible studies in order to plant churches.

Church Planter

Serve on a church planting team among working class communities in Taiwan.

Of the 23 million people in Taiwan, over 97% do not yet know Christ. Only ½ of 1% of Taiwan blue-collar workers are Christian! Proclaim Christ in the local dialect among unreached pockets of the population and work with both expatriate and national coworkers to establish a new Hakka or Taiwanese church among the working class.

Ordained pastors with high linguistic aptitude and a background in social work are preferred. Skill and creativity in children’s or youth ministry methods, English teaching, mime, music, and other team outreach methods are particular assets.

Do you have a servant heart with demonstrated skills in evangelism and/or discipleship? Are you willing to work with or under national leadership? Will you take initiative and persevere in a long-term ministry? If so, come, and establish the church in Taiwan.

Six missionary units are needed.

Discipler

Coming alongside Christians to help them grow in their faith and reach others.

Evangelism Trainer

Train Taiwanese nationals in evangelism. Prepare them to work on church planting teams, proclaiming Christ among the working class with the goal of establishing a new Hakka or Taiwanese church.

An ordained pastor with demonstrated skills in training nationals in evangelism methods, high linguistic aptitude, and a background in social work is preferred. A combination of these skills with musical ability, English teaching skills, or other community outreach skills would be ideal. This ministry requires initiative and perseverance as you serve with and under national leaders.

One missionary unit is needed.

Evangelist

Are you passionate for the lost and able to draw Christ into the conversation? We are looking for people to assist local Chinese churches with direct evangelistic outreach, discipleship, and church planting among Chinese contract workers and Asian brides living in Taiwan. Most of the brides are recent immigrants from Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia.

Strong skills in personal evangelism are needed for this ministry as well as giftedness in individual and small group discipleship. Experience in counseling will be helpful. Those who take initiative and are flexible, have appropriate networking skills, and are willing to serve under national leadership are ideal for this ministry. For men with pastoral gifts, ordination is recommended.

Language ability in Thai, Vietnamese, or Indonesian is necessary. On-field study in Mandarin can be undertaken, as needed. Language teaching gifts will be helpful when working with couples in mixed marriages.

Two Thai-speaking units, two Vietnamese-speaking units, and one Indonesian-speaking unit are needed in this ministry.

Guest House Operator

Hospitable people are needed to maintain a guest house for the use of transitioning missionaries, short-term teams and visitors to the field.

MK Teachers

Qualified teachers for missionary kids will teach at Morrison Christian Academy (www.mca.org), or in a Morrison satellite school, in grade level K-12. Attend a SEND-related church under development and serve in a limited capacity. This position requires a teaching certification and a minimum two-year commitment.

Teaching English

Needed: TESOL trained (or equivalent) individuals with the Chinese language to do weekly English Bible Clubs in several locations. 1 - 2 year commitment.

SEND Me! (Short term) - Taiwan - Church Planting

Teach English to adults and children! Organize and help with summer English camps and Vacation Bible Schools! Do visitation with the team, evangelism, Bible studies, help worship team with music! All of these activities and ministries are involved in church planting. Come join the Taiwan team to reach the least reached in Taiwan! You must be TESOL trained and have a heart for church ministries. Four locations, 6 months to 1 year.

SEND Me! (short-term) TESOL Teacher/Outreach Team Worker

Assist in establishing a new church through church-based English class instruction, friendship evangelism and extracurricular outreach activities. Normally, English teaching would not exceed four to eight hours per week. Qualifications: Servant heart, friendly, outgoing disposition, flexibility. Previous teaching experience is helpful. You will have on-field training consisting of orientation to Taiwan culture and churches, Mandarin language study as needed, seminar in linguistic approaches specifically to assist Chinese speakers learning English. One to two year commitment.

Counselor

A licensed counselor with at least two years of experience is needed to counsel missionaries and nationals in Taiwan. In this ministry, you can apply your skills, training, and life experience to make a difference in world mission. You will provide Biblically based caregiving that will serve individuals, couples, children and families and assist with a broad spectrum of needs. You should understand the unique stresses and frustrations encountered by Christians in Taiwan and be able to deal with work, ministry, personal effectiveness, and relational issues. You will present seminars and workshops, and conduct personality and preference inventories.

We are looking for a committed, evangelical Christian with demonstrated emotional and spiritual maturity. Educational qualifications include Bible school or seminary training, a Master’s degree or above in a care-giving specialty, and two to three years of full-time counseling experience. Cross- cultural experience is needed and may include five years of international ministry or two years of formal cross-cultural training. Verbal fluency in both Chinese and English is also required.

Youth Ministry with English Teaching Emphasis

Work with a team to establish a new church and its vital youth ministry. Make initial contacts with students by providing English instruction in both church-based and public school classes at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Use friendship evangelism, extracurricular activities, and community outreach programs to provide additional evangelistic opportunities. English teaching will not usually exceed four to eight hours per week.

TESOL certification is not required, but previous youth ministry and teaching experience will be helpful. If you enjoy sharing your faith with young people, have a servant heart, and are outgoing, you will enjoy this ministry. Flexibility and willingness to work with a team are a must.

"Catch the Vision"

"Catch the Vision" is a vision trip to Taiwan to observe our ministries and understand SEND Taiwan's vision 119, which is calling for 119 workers to plant 60 churches along old Route 1 and 19 in Taiwan. Most of these cities and towns have less than one per cent evangelical Christians in them and these are the hardest cities and towns to reach. 1-1-9 is the emergency number in Taiwan and we have adopted this number as a reminder of the urgency to reach the lost. There will be opportunites to meet with SEND missionaries and other co-workers and understand their burden for the people in their communities. You will experience worship with one of SEND Taiwan's church planting teams and visit 4-5 different ministries.
