1. Bible Teacher and Trainer of Church Leaders

A critical need in East Asia is for Bible teachers to train the lay leaders of Christian "meeting points." Most of these key leaders have little or no Bible education, pastoral training or church management instruction. This lack of training can created fertile ground for false teaching, cults, interpersonal problems in the Body and mismanagement of resources. Much of the training is conducted in two-week sessions four times a year. Responsibilities:

  • Teach basic Bible classes for lay leaders
  • Conduct pastoral training
  • Teach church administration
  • Develop curriculum
  • Assist local pastors
  • Other ministry assignments
Qualifications:
  • Bible major or seminary degree
  • Teaching experience is a plus

2. Church Planter

The church in East Asia has come a long way since the first missionaries arrived in this part of the world. The church is established in many areas and is taking responsibility to reach out to its own people. Still, the Church asks for help in church planting, reaching out to groups of un-reached, un-churched, and disenfranchised people of areas of East Asia where evangelism and church planting are not restricted, such as Macau. There is an urgent need for churches to be planted, strengthened, grown and developed into Great Commission-minded churches. Stable, well-grounded, God-centered leadership that will help the church to mature and reproduce must be developed in each church that is planted. Responsibilities:

  • Pastoral work including: Sunday school, preaching, member care, teaching, youth ministry, children's ministry, prayer meetings, fellowship groups, etc.
  • Outreach ministries e.g. evangelism, English classes, etc.
  • Ministry Skill enrichment, including: Language studies, seminars
  • Evangelism & discipleship training
  • Marriage and family counseling
  • Church leadership training
Qualifications:
  • Bible major or seminary degree
  • Church planting and church strengthening experience a plus
  • Training in evangelism, counseling and leadership development would be helpful
  • Social work experience is also a plus

Language Training:For non-Chinese speaking career missionaries, the first two years of service is spent in Mandarin language training in Taiwan. ( Cantonese in Hong Kong)

These include physicians, nurses, therapists and technologists. The second opportunity is in improving community health by helping to identify public health issues and developing solutions to address the problems. Responsibilities:

  • Develop curriculum
  • Develop relationships with the medical community
