SEND Croatia’s vision for developing disciples is based around a training center where discipleship is done through biblical curriculum, life in community, and missions. A variety of methods include sports ministry, Christian camping, Bible teaching, leadership development, outdoor education, and creative engagement.
The culture is shifting – while most Croatians still identify as Catholic, in actuality, they live a dichotomy of “God on one side and life on another.” Interest in church and God is declining. The majority of Croatians are pragmatic agnostics and a growing number would identify themselves as something other than Catholic – Agnostic, Muslim, Atheist, or other.
The camp SEND missionaries run in partnership with Scripture Union provides many opportunities for outreach, from Bible and MK camps to School-in-Nature retreats and rock climbing clubs. Young leaders are developed through training and serving at the camp. Camping is not an end in itself but a means of building up the local church.
SEND’s ministry in this area of the world began in the early 90s through providing relief supplies to refugees of the breakup of Yugoslavia.
