About

Albanians descend from ancient Illyrians, one of the oldest people groups to occupy the Balkan Mountain region. Through centuries of wars and conflicts, Albanians have been scattered throughout the Balkans and significant populations live in Albania, Kosova, Macedonia and Montenegro.
  • Albania = 95% Albanian
  • Kosova = 88% Albanian
  • Macedonia = 25% Albanian
  • Montenegro = 5% Albanian
Albanians prize family, ethnic heritage and personal honor. The besa, roughly translated “trust” or “covenant,” remains a valued concept and governs Albanians’ interactions with each other.
