Leigh and Jana > Bio

Both Leigh and Jana were brought up in Christian homes. Jana was born and raised in Austin, Texas; Leigh was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and grew up mostly in Calgary, Alberta. In 1999, the Lord led both Leigh and Jana on a summer trip to Japan where they met for the first time. While there, God showed them the great need for missionaries in Japan. Leigh and Jana were accepted as missionaries with SEND International less than a year after getting married.  They spent the next 4 years raising support, having their first daughter, Sarah, and living in Great Falls, MT.  Leigh and Jana arrived in Japan in 2005 with 100% support only to find out their second child was going to be born with limb deficiencies and a few other issues.  They wanted to stay buit it was clear they needed to return to the US to have this child and figure out what to do next.  Cayley was born without arms and short legs but she was certainly not going to let that deter her will to live!  The four of them moved to Michigan in 2006 so Leigh could work in the SEND US Office as a support coach for new missionaries.  After three years in the office, they began their first home service to regain 100% support and return to Japan.  During their time in Michigan, they became a family of six, welcoming Rebekah in 2007 and then Isaac in 2010, their first son.  The Fehrs returned to Japan in July 2011 and look forward to operating a SEND-owned retreat center at the base of Mt. Fuji. They have a great vision for this beautiful camp setting that has enormous potential for ministry.
