Michigan | Muslim Refugee Ministry

Needed:
Do you love Jesus and have a passion for making a difference in a diverse community with many needs? Come and join our Refugee Ministry in Michigan as we build relationships that bridges to the gospel through serving and befriending Muslim refugees. This opportunity could be adapted for internship. We invite you to talk to a missions coach and explore how God can use you to reach the unreached.
Tasks:
  • Informally teach English as a conversation partner
  • Build meaningful relationships with refugees and their families as a mentor
  • Tutor school subjects to immigrant children as needed
  • Learn Arabic, Pashto, or Farsi for long-termers (basic for mid-termers; optional for short-termers)
  • Share the love and gospel of Christ by helping meet practical needs
  • Sharing the gospel through storytelling
  • Help mobilize, mentor, and train volunteers
  • Work on a team to plan monthly "Global Friends Club" events
  • Optionally live in one of three neighborhoods in Lansing with an especially high concentration of foreigners.
Specific Qualifications:
  • Fluent English speaker (experience teaching English is a plus)
  • Cross-cultural ministry experience preferred
  • The ability to speak Arabic, Pashto, or Farsi is not required or expected, but would be a plus
  • Capable of facilitating a spiritual discussion with biblical truths
  • Event planning or social work experience is a plus
  • Desire to advance the gospel relationally through service
  • Committed to working on a team
  • A passion for God and a heart for people
